- Open a file in QM3D, using the Radial w/Angle method.
- Occupy your first control point and power ON the Angle Encoder (AE), then choose your reference angle type.
- Aim at a clearly visible object nearby, such as a light pole or edge of a building, and fire the laser while keeping steady until all beeps are sounded. The AE should now read 0.0 (zero), when pointing in this direction.
- Taking FORE shots only, locate all the features of your map, using the Point, Line, Curve or Vehicle buttons. (TIP) Check your starting mark before you are done to verify the reading is 0.0. If not, please repeat step 2.
- If a new control point is required, shoot it last and store it, using the Point button. Power down the AE and leave a target at the current control point that will be visible from the new control point.
- From the new control point, power up the AE and zero the AE on the previous control point.
- From the QM3D Measure Menu, select Set New CP and press or enter the number of the point you have moved to.
- Continue logging data into the program from this location and finish mapping the rest of the scene.
